Brancusi - Orthodox Christian Sculptor

In the following pages, we will emphasise the presence of Christian Orthodox spirituality in Brancusi`s life and work, using in a restructured and enriched form, the text of our lecture: “Sculpted matter – epiphany of the Creator`s light” presented on the 14th of January, 2006, at the “George Enescu” University of Arts – Iasi, after we were awarded with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of this University, fact for which I remain deeply grateful.

We wish that the publication of this text, now with a new title: “Brancusi – Christian Orthodox Sculptor” will be a pious homage both to the memory of the famous Romanian sculptor, entered into the light of the great artists of humanity, and a calling to a better and more profound knowledge of the spiritual meanings of the work of this faithful and wise son of the Romanian Orthodox Church, who brought into light in the world the values of the Romanian spirit.
